Carolyn,

I have a few questions I need to ask for a friend suffering from eczema. She gets open sores on her hands that are very painful. She uses gloves to cover her hands so they don't get irritated. Anytime a plant based product touches her hands she instantly gets sores and they open. She said if her hand touches grass it instantly gets irritated. She did go in for allergy testing and the didn't find her allergic to anything. This does not make sense to me. I tried giving her a bergamot and carrot seed oil lotion but this caused her hands to get very irritated.
Needless to say she is at her wits end. This is causing her severe frustration and feels like she has been to so many doctors who know nothing. I was wondering if you had any ideas of what she could try on her hands. I was thinking of just giving her a small trial of The Aromatherapy Place unscented and additive free lotion with nothing added to it. I told her I would ask your opinion on the matter.
Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!!!!
Lindy

Forum: Aromatherapy for Health and Wellness

Using pure essential oils in candle making

Hello! I am interested in using essential oils instead of fragrance oils when making my olive oil wax candles; creating a more 'natural fragrance' candle. My problem is, I don't know how much essential oil to use and if it is, in fact, safe to use in candle making. Also, are there any essential oils that can cause adverse reactions when permeating the air from the heat of a candle? I have not been able to find an answers in any of the candle making forums. Thanks so much.

Forum: Aromatherapy FAQ's

using undiluted essential oils

I've just read a book by Riquette Hofsteinon Growing Hair Fast. In the book she mentioned using Rosemary oil, basil oil lavender oil and lemon oil for scalp stimulator. I presume the oils are essential oils. Anyway, my question is - Riquette Didn't mention any vegetable oils in this receipe. Is it okie to use just purely essential oils?? I thought essential oils are not to be applied directly without diluting? I'm thinking of diluting it with jojoba oil or amla oil. Please enlighten me.. Thanks a million!

Forum: Essential Oil Safety

Relaxing aromatherapy blend

I am fairly new to aromatherapy and this is my visit to this board. I am looking for a good essential oil blend for relaxation. I plan to use this mainly for bath salts and possibly in lotions. Also what type of carrier oil would be good for this type of blend and application. I read a post below regarding essential oil in candles. I am a candle maker and use only soy wax in my candles. I saw that typically aromatherapy candles don't "pack enough punch" to have the full therapeudic effect and if so are expensive to make. I would like if at all possible to make 1 or 2 aromatherapy candles to have in my line. Any suggestions on the best EO's or blends for that? Thanks so much for any help or guidance on this subject.
